NASA scrubs fifth attempt to launch Endeavour

Updated on : Tuesday, July 14, 2009

CAPE CANAVERAL: NASA scrubbed a fifth attempt to launch the shuttle Endeavour due to stormy weather Monday, delaying the mission to the International Space Station for at least 24 hours, space agency officials said.

The launch had been scheduled for 6:51 pm (2251 GMT) but forecasters said unsettled weather, including nearby late-day thunderstorms, forced NASA to abort the countdown.

Following two delays last month due to leakages in the fueling system, space officials have been trying since Saturday to launch Endeavour, which has a planned rendezvous with the International Space Station (ISS) to complete the assembly of the Japanese Kibo laboratory
